1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using The Morning Abstract (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. We may update these terms at any time; continued use constitutes acceptance of changes.
2. Description of Service
The Morning Abstract is an AI-powered research briefing service that:
- Retrieves publicly available research papers from arXiv via their open API.
- Uses artificial intelligence (Anthropic's Claude) to analyze paper content and generate editorial-style summaries.
- Matches papers to your stated research interests using keyword and tag matching.
- Delivers personalized digest emails containing summaries of multiple matched papers.
3. Account & Eligibility
- You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- One account per person. Sharing accounts is not permitted.
- You must provide accurate information during registration.
4. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer
Important:
The Morning Abstract summaries, analyses, and editorials are generated by artificial intelligence. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, or misinterpretations of the source material.
- Not a substitute for reading the original paper. Always consult the source material for critical research decisions.
- Novelty scores are subjective. AI assessments of novelty and importance should not be relied upon as peer review.
- No medical, legal, or safety advice. Do not make consequential decisions based solely on The Morning Abstract summaries.
5. arXiv Content & Attribution
The Morning Abstract accesses arXiv in compliance with their API Terms of Use:
- All papers referenced by The Morning Abstract remain the intellectual property of their respective authors.
- Paper content is subject to the licenses chosen by authors on arXiv (typically Creative Commons or arXiv non-exclusive license).
- The Morning Abstract provides links to the original arXiv pages for all referenced papers.
- We respect arXiv's rate limiting and responsible use guidelines.
- The Morning Abstract is an independent service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with arXiv or Cornell University.
- If you are a paper author and wish to have your work excluded from The Morning Abstract summaries, contact us at legal@morningabstract.ai.
6. Subscriptions & Billing
- Free tier: Biweekly digest, 2 arXiv categories, 10 keywords, 7-day archive. No payment required.
- Pro tier: $5/month or $49/year (billed annually). Weekday digests (Mon–Fri), all categories, 50 keywords, deep dives, 1-year archive, trend alerts.
- All new signups include a 7-day free trial of daily Pro briefings. No credit card required during trial.
- Subscriptions renew automatically. Cancel before renewal to avoid charges.
- Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact billing@morningabstract.ai.
7. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Resell, redistribute, or republish The Morning Abstract content without permission.
- Use automated tools to scrape or bulk-download digest content.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer our matching algorithms or AI prompts.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose.
- Impersonate another user or provide false information.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure.
8. Intellectual Property
- The The Morning Abstract name, logo, design, and editorial format are our intellectual property.
- AI-generated digest content is provided for your personal, non-commercial use.
- Original research papers belong to their authors. Our summaries do not transfer any rights.
- You retain ownership of your keywords, preferences, and any notes you create.
9. Service Availability
- We aim for reliable daily delivery but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
- arXiv may change their API, which could temporarily affect our paper sourcing.
- AI model changes or outages may occasionally affect digest quality or delivery timing.
- We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service with 30 days notice for paid subscribers.
10. Limitation of Liability
The Morning Abstract is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for inaccuracies in AI-generated summaries.
- We are not liable for missed papers or incorrect relevance matching.
- We are not liable for decisions made based on our content.
- Total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months prior to any claim.
11. Termination
- You may delete your account at any time by contacting support@morningabstract.ai.
- We may terminate accounts that violate these terms.
- Upon termination, your data will be deleted within 30 days per our Privacy Policy.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Delaware.
